Amanda Bossard was just out of high school when she started her studies in marine biology at Alaska PacificUniversity in Anchorage. Bossard's career began in 1999, when she took a job on the F/V Sunset. The 65-foot halibut vessel was converted into a tender for salmon by Murat Ariatn. He has been fishing commercially for more than twenty years. Bossard married Aritan in 1999, and the two have joined to defend their businesses. They are supporters of conservative and profitable renewable seafood resource management. In 2007, the mother of two young children Bella age 3 as well as Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia, opened a direct market wholesale seafood distributor named Otolith. The couple is separated by 5 months plus more to allow her to concentrate on her goals in terms of finances and her environmental goals. As of July 2016 Bossard and her daughter Isabella age 12 and Andre age 10 Andre aged 10 returned to Southeast Alaska annually each summer to work as deckhands throughout the wild salmon harvest in summer. For two months, Bossard, along with her daughter Isabella will use hooks and lines to catch the salmon they want to catch. Aritan will then sell their fish to local processors.
